If you have a pair of five cards of the same suit, you’ve made a flush. When you compare a flush to a straight, you’ll find that the higher card wins. For example, K-J-9-3-2 beats K-J-7-6-5, because the nine beats the seven.
Straight flush
If you have five cards in your hand, and a straight flush, you have a winning hand. The straight is considered the strongest hand in poker. It is more likely to win than a flush, and you can have a straight flush when you have a straight flush with a pair of twos. There are about 10,240 possible ways to make a straight in poker. There are two types of straights – ace-high and five-high.
A straight flush is the best hand to win with in poker, but it can be difficult to determine if it is better than other hands. Often, players will get over-excited about particular draws and overestimate their chances. The best thing to do is to consider the odds and play conservatively based on your gut instinct.
Four of a Kind
In poker, Four of a Kind is a poker hand that contains at least two nines and one pair. The high-ranking kicker wins the hand. A pair of nines and one pair of threes wins the pot. In some variations, two of a kind is also possible.
Four of a Kind is considered the second-best hand in the poker hand ranking system. It is second only to the Straight Flush. It is a powerful hand in Hold’em, and is rarely beat on the river. Next in the hand ranking system is Full House, which includes Aces full of Kings. The suits of the cards are equal, and only the rank determines the highest hand.
High-low
High-low poker is a variant of draw poker. The highest-ranking card in a high-low hand is known as the high hand, and the lowest-ranking card is known as the low hand. For example, a hand of nine can be called “a nine” and is defeated by any hand with an “eight.” Often, low hands are made up of two cards, such as eight-6-5-4-2, which defeats an “eight-seven” hand.
High-low poker is typically played with a fixed limit. This ensures that the lowest hand, and the highest-ranking hand, get to share the pot. The highest-ranking hand gets 50% of the pot, and the low-ranking hand gets 25%.
